'Perfect choice' Shared a room here for four nights with two friends. Thamel Villa was just what we were looking for. It's location could not be better; down a quiet alley yet right in the center of Thamel. It's a lovely classical villa with history. Has a small area to sit outside; birds singing, clean and spacious room, with AC and heating, and, lovely staff. The girls Nima and Karma are ever so sweet and so is Kansa, the old man that would take us across to Richikesh Cafe for breakfast. There are only 8 rooms so it really felt as if we were staying in a mansion, not a hotel. The only difficulty we encountered was that no taxi could reach the hotel. Only the car used by the hotel can. So, when we arrived with all our luggage, we had to be dropped off a few meters down the main road.Better to arrange airport transfer with the hotel

Lovely small hotel in Great location We stayed in this lovely hotel last week and found it a relaxing oasis in the mayhem of Kathmandu. Clean and comfortable with very helpful staff. If you have trouble with stairs it may not be for you but enquire about a lower room. We stayed on the top floor and really enjoyed our visit.

Quaint hotel, perfect location This hotel is nestled in a quiet alley on the edge of Thamel, just a few blocks away from the hustle and bustle of the main area, but far enough removed that you do not hear any street noise. Our room was on the ground floor and was extremely spacious. The easily remedied drawback to the room is that the floor was all terra cotta tile, which was quite cold. If there were a rug or two in the room it would help bring some physical and decorative warmth to the room. Room slippers are provided so it’s not as bad. The only other small negative was the bathroom design. The drain for the shower was located outside of the shower so much of the water flows into the rest of the bathroom, rendering the bath mat useless. Again, not horrible but a minor quirk. I will say the water drained quickly so by the time your shower is finished the water has dissipated. Other reviewers complained about the lack of hot water, but we had no issues with this. The bed was extremely comfortable and there is a wall heating unit so the room does not get too cold. The doors and windows don’t have a tight seal, so you do get some noise from the courtyard, but not that much. We did have a small issue with being able to smell cigarette smoke at times when someone was smoking near our room. We attributed that to the poor door seals. As other reviews have stated, the hotel itself does not serve breakfast. Instead, they walk you across the street to the Rickshaw Cafe for a set menu. Some reviewers have complained that it was not a substantial meal, but we found it to be plenty. We would choose only some of the items rather than opting for the full menu and it was more than enough. The quality of the food was quite good. The only other suggestion I would offer would be for the hotel to have coffee available in the rooms. They do have a hotpot for water and give you tea bags as well as plenty of bottled water. Having coffee, even the instant kind, would be a definite bonus. Overall, I think this is a good choice in the Thamel area of Kathmandu. It’s not the most expensive or luxurious hotel, but it has a very welcoming vibe and the rates are quite reasonable. The staff was always pleasant and willing to help. They let us keep our room until mid-afternoon on our day of checkout due to our flight time. Should we return to Kathmandu, we would definitely look into staying here again.

Oasis Highly recommend. Will stay here when I return. A beautifully styled, quiet oasis in Kathmandu. Lots of stairs to get to my penthouse suite, but totally worth it. Private rooftop garden, funky bathroom and shower- much needed after the Poon Hill trek.

Quaint hotel in the heart of Thamel A very quaint hotel, some rooms with roof top / balcony access. Very happy with the quality of our room. Food is very good. We liked it so much the first time we stayed, we booked again on our way back home via Kathmandu.Right in the heart of lively Thamel, you couldnt find a better location. We will stay here again when next passing through Kathmandu.Definitely recommended.

Best honeymoon gift ever! Decided to spend our last night in kathmandu here because the ambience & all the staff are so incredible. Loving the place so much! Thank you for giving us discounted price as we came in a low season. The manager even upgraded our room to bigger suite and let us stay extra hours on the next day because our flight is late at night. Free airport transfer. The free breakfast is good. Nothing better than this to end my honeymoon trip in Nepal. So gonna miss all your friendly & helpful staff. Love, XOXO.
